Burn-in
Before first use, the pan must be seasoned to activate its natural non-stick properties:
- Clean the pan with hot water and a brush (no soap).
- Dry thoroughly with paper towels.
- Add a thin layer of (sunflower) oil and heat until it starts to smoke.
- Pour out the oil, wipe clean, and repeat if desired.
The pan will darken with use, a sign of proper seasoning. The darker it gets, the better the non-stick properties.
Cleaning
- After use, clean the pan only with hot water and a brush or sponge. Avoid dish soap and never use the dishwasher.
- Dry well and rub lightly with oil to prevent rust formation.
- Want to remove odors? Heat a layer of coarse salt in the pan, rinse, and repeat the oiling process.
